Goucher College

In 2014, 100 percent of the Goucher College graduates studied abroad. Located in Maryland, the college has made the participation in a study abroad program a mandatory part of the academic experience.

Students can choose opportunities in 32 countries. These opportunities include a semester-long exchange, a three-week program, a summer exchange or an internship. Some of the Goucher students will even spend an entire year abroad.

Elon University

North Carolina’s Elon University also makes studying abroad an integral part of the experience. The university has even created a center for the purpose of facilitating international student exchanges – Isabella Cannon Global Education Center.

Some of the countries that Elon University students can choose among for a short-term study abroad opportunity include Iceland, Peru, Australia, Costa Rica, China, France, Ghana, Greece, Israel, India, Italy, Ireland, South Africa, Vietnam and Spain.

The university even operates a couple of international centers in other countries to facilitate students. Elon University also welcomes international students to its three campuses in the US in an attempt to create a more diversified academic environment.

Carleton College

Nearly 80 percent of the students that graduated from Carleton College in 2014 had participated in a study abroad program. The Northfield, Minnesota university has developed 18 study abroad programs that are led by faculty members.

Some of the most intriguing Carleton study abroad programs include economics in Cambridge, German and European studies in Berlin, agricultural sustainability in China, French studies in Paris, cross cultural psychology in Prague and English theater and literature in London.

Soka University

Both study abroad and international internship opportunities are available at Soka University. This is the main reason why a 100 percent of the university’s graduates travel to another country before obtaining their diploma.

Studying in a foreign country for one semester during the junior year is a mandatory requirement. Students can choose among academic and internship programs in Spain, France, Senegal, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Japan, China and Taiwan.

During their time in one of the Soka partner universities, students can choose among three types of courses – language acquisition courses, content courses for international students and university courses for locals.

Colby College

Nearly two thirds of the Colby College student acquire academic or professional experiences off campus. The students have access to more than 200 study abroad programs in 60 countries across the globe.

Colby College study abroad programs are available in cities across Portugal, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, the UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Israel, Turkey, India, China, Korea, Japan, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the South American countries.

On top of these opportunities, Colby College has developed two programs called Global Entry Semester. These include Colby in Dijon and Colby in Salamanca. Both of the programs are language-intensive and they also give students a comprehensive cross-cultural experience in France and Spain.
