More universities are starting to invest in quality recreation centers on top of state-of-the-art academic facilities. Modern recreational facilities attract top talent and skilled athletes to the colleges. Without further ado, here are some of the best student recreation centers in the US.
University of Cincinnati
This university has recreational facilities that span over an area of 200,000 square feet, giving students access to swimming pools, volleyball, basketball and racquetball courts, martial arts facilities, gyms and dance clubs. A fresh juice bar is also available, providing healthy refreshment after intense workout sessions.
The recreation center has a Lifeclinic Blood Pressure Unit for effective testing and monitoring.
Spouses and relatives of students can benefit from supplemental memberships to the University of Cincinnati recreation center.

Ohio State University

More than 140 million dollars have been invested in the creation of the facilities and the purchase of equipment. The recreational center spans over the impressive area of 569,459 square feet and a partnership with Nike has shaped up the appearance of some of the facilities.
An Olympic-sized swimming pool, racquetball courts, a boulder wall, a five-level cardio and weight training facility and an aquatic center are just some of the recreation options available. There are also volleyball and squash courts, as well as walk racks. A kitchen gives students access to healthy nutritional options.

Colorado State University
The Leed Gold-certified recreation center at Colorado State University has been funded entirely by student fees and it’s been included in a Men’s Health best university gyms list.

University of Texas-Austin
The recreational campus at University of Texas-Austin is housed in eight buildings. As a result, nearly 89 percent of the students participate in some kind of sport or recreational activity. The facilities include 500,000 square feet of indoor space and 40 acres of outdoor facilities.

Sports and recreation are so important at University of Texas that there are dozens of clubs that students can join. Some of the sports practiced by the on-campus clubs include archery, badminton, gymnastics, fencing, ice hockey, powerlifting, sailing, soccer, water polo and even water skiing.
University of Illinois
Campus recreation at University of Illinois takes place at the Activity Recreation Center, the East Campus Recreation Center, the ice arena, the complex fields and the outdoor center fields.
The Activity Recreation Center comes with a 35-foot climbing wall, an indoor running track, racquetball courts, a swimming pool, a sauna, four gyms, a café and an instructional kitchen. The aim of the kitchen is to offer functional recipes and tips on how kitchen equipment is to be used for the preparation of healthy meals.
In terms of programs and activities, students have access to an aquatic center, group fitness classes (yoga, bodypump, strength training, cycling and deep water exercise), ice skating, intramural activities, club sports, personal training and healthy cooking programs.
