  • First of all, the person applying for an engineering license should be at least 18 years of age or more. It is due to the fact that engineering is considered to be a serious practice and one has to be mature enough to consider all the aspects of a particular project under his supervision.
  • Secondly, the person has to be of good character, which means he should not be involved in any sort of crime and malpractice.   • To become an engineer in Canada, the third pre requisite is to complete a degree in any field of engineering on a condition that the university is accredited by Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, CEAB. Hence, one has to be careful in choosing the right university for engineering education. Once the individual has graduated from a CEAB accredited university, he has to pass a professional exam held by the particular regulatory authority of the province/territory for example, in Ontario the authority is PEO. The test is specifically designed in order to check the practical knowledge of the student about engineering. After the test has been conducted, the applicant has to fulfil last pre requisite to become a professional engineer.
  • The last pre requisite is completing a particular number of hours of practical engineering experience. In Ontario, experience required is 48 months in which 12 months should be under the supervision of a professional engineer. Once all the pre requisites are met, applicant is good to go for his license as a Professional engineer in Canada.
